Rooted in indigenous practices predating written record, Tok Sen (which roughly translates to mean “moving energy along pathways”) offers vibrational medicine for the body, mind, and spirit, which has been proven effective for over 5,000 years.
Originally offered as spirit medicine by the spirit doctors within the Lanna culture of the Northern Thailand region, Tok Sen involves the gentle tapping of a wooden mallet and peg along the Sen lines, which are the physical pathways by which movement occurs in the body.
This ancient healing technique addresses all three aspects of the body, according to traditional Thai medicine theory, and ultimately brings balance and wellbeing to the Heart/Mind:
Physical (consisting of the elements Earth + Water)- Energetic (consisting of the elements Fire + Wind)
- Consciousness (consisting of the elements Space + Consciousness)
The vibrational sensations from the tapping ease the physical body, balancing the elements and sending communication to deep within the body that do not allow for direct palpation including deep muscles, bones and organs.
The rhythmic sound from the tapping activates the calm of the parasympathetic nervous system, which eases the mind, allowing it to let go, relax, and reset.
Working along the Sen lines helps to remove physical and energetic blocks along the energy channels, restoring and maintaining health and wellbeing, the entire goal of Thai medicine.
Tok Sen is an amazingly effective modality all on it’s own, and can also be incorporated into bodywork sessions to reduce discomfort and increase mobility in the body.
